About the Founder of Perfect K9 – Doris Lam

Perfect K9 was founded by Doris Lam, a passionate and experienced canine professional dedicated to helping dogs and their owners achieve lasting harmony. Doris holds two prestigious international certifications from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT):

Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA)
Certified Behavior Consultant Canine – Knowledge Assessed (CBCC-KA)

As of 2023, Doris is one of only five certified canine behavior consultants in Singapore under CCPDT, a distinction that reflects her in-depth expertise and commitment to high professional standards. Her qualifications demonstrate proven competence in areas such as ethology, learning theory, canine training techniques, and behavioral modification based on scientifically validated principles.

Doris also holds a Certification in Fear and Aggression from the International College of Canine Studies, further equipping her to handle complex behavioural challenges involving reactivity, fear-based responses, and aggression in dogs.

Foundational Training & Philosophy

Doris is also a Certified Dog Trainer with Alpha Dog Training Australia, since the year 2000. Alpha Dog Training is known for pioneering effective reward-based training methods, which form the foundation of Doris’s approach.

Through her training with Alpha, Doris mastered key components of the Lifestyle Canine Communication System, including:

Dog handling techniques (basic to advanced)
Canine behaviour and psychology
Behavioural problem-solving
Agility training
Communication between dog and handler in real-life environments

Doris is further certified as a Certified Trick Dog Instructor (CDTI) and is a supporting member of:

With over 20 years of hands-on experience, Doris has worked with dogs ranging from 2 months to 12 years old, tailoring each training program to the unique personality and needs of the dog. She is considered a pioneer in positive-based lifestyle training in Singapore and has successfully helped resolve a wide variety of behavioural challenges.

Her goal is not just to train dogs—but to empower owners with the skills and understanding needed to strengthen their bond with their canine companions. Doris continues to stay updated through ongoing research and education, ensuring that Perfect K9’s training methods remain practical, relevant, and effective.
